I have a sliding scale in hopes that it will allow more people to access what I do. I know we all have different financial realities, and want to have options that reflect that.
There are 3 price options for each length appointment. I’m happy to talk over email about which price is right for you if that would be helpful. You’ll have the option to pay with Venmo or PayPal before your appointment, and you’re also welcome to bring in cash, check, or credit/debit card at the time of your massage. All of these options - except credit and debit cards - allow for you to pay the rate that’s right for you without needing to discuss it with me.
Please read the quick descriptions of the highest, lowest, and middle costs:
THE HIGHEST COST reflects the actual cost of the session. It’s the cost I would charge everyone in the absence of a sliding scale.
If you have access to financial security, own property or have personal savings, you would not traditionally qualify for sliding scale services. If you are able to pay for "wants" and spend little time worried about being able to financially secure necessities like food, shelter, medical care, child care, etc., this price is for you.
60 minutes: $80 90 minutes: $115 120 minutes: $155
THE LOWEST COST acknowledges that economic circumstances can prevent people from getting bodywork unless opportunities are deliberately made for them to access services at a rate reflective of their economic realities.
If you struggle to maintain access to housing, food, healthcare, and child care, are living paycheck to paycheck, or are in significant debt, this rate is for you and I will honor this price as an equal economic offering. If this amount is still prohibitive, I am happy to work with you on an extended payment plan or at a lower cost.
60 minutes: $40 90 minutes: $55 120 minutes: $75
THE MIDDLE COST reflects the fact that paying the full cost might prevent some people from coming in whose circumstances don’t match the description for either end of the scale.
If you are struggling to overcome debt or to move away from paycheck-to-paycheck living, but you have access to steady income and are not spending most of your time thinking about meeting basic needs like food and shelter, this rate is for you. If you, however, can ask others for financial support, such as family members, partners, or friends, please consider using those resources before you use the resources of the sliding scale.
60 minutes: $60 90 minutes: $90 120 minutes: $130
Many thanks to Alexis Cunningfolk who created this model. Much of the language above, as well as the image of the jars, is Alexis’ work.
